2013 Tulip Time Festival Program

Destination Southern Highlands and the Tulip Time Working Party are pleased to release the full program of events and activities for this year's 53rd Tulip Time Festival in the Southern Highlands.

To coincide with his year's appointed charity partners (CanTeen Australia and Kollege of Knowledge Kommittee for Kids Inc. (4K's)) the key message is 'brighter futures' coupled with the central colour theme of red adorning local businesses, streets and gardens across the towns and villages. This theme and alignment with the children's charities has assisted to shape the program of events increasing the focus on the younger demographic.

The highlight of events for the first week include the free 2ST Radio community breakfast, exciting and interactive Carnival Dinner, story and craft time, face painting, the Street Fair and much loved Street Parade this year followed by the inaugural Billy Cart Derby down Bong Bong Street, Bowral.

Then before the weekend is over, there is the spectacular Tulips After Dark on Saturday 28th September with Bowral's Corbett Gardens becoming a fairy land of colour. The garden will come alive at 6.15pm with the children's pantomime the 'King and Queen of Green', followed by the countdown to light up the garden and entertainment by the esteemed local artist Bronwyn Kenny and her Trio. Entry to the event is by gold coin donation which will support one of this year's charity partners CanTeen Australia. Gates open at 6.15pm and all patrons are encouraged to rug up, bring a chair and enjoy the spectacular lights and entertainment.

Stall holders operating in Corbett Gardens and adjoining Street Fair will continue throughout the evening providing patrons with the opportunity to purchase a mix of food, wine, gifts, home wares etc. so there is even more reason to come and enjoy the starlight program.

Not to be outdone, the second week offers more again with story and craft time, children's pantomime 'Why Alice painted the Tulips Red', walkabout with the reptiles, Priceline Beauty session, face painting, 7's Rugby Carnival and the grand final for the Battle of the Banger's 'cook off' in Berrima.

For full details of these and other Tulip Time events, please visit Tulip Time or call Debbie Pearce, Destination Southern Highlands Event Coordinator on 02 4871 2888 or by email.
